Dream Big! Dreams Inspired by God, Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Do you remember the hopes and dreams you had when you were younger? Do you feel that some of those dreams have slipped away and it’s too late to pursue something your heart has longed for?
It’s not too late. Don’t ever give up on your dream’s. You may have to take those dreams off the shelf and dust them off a little, but God is still on the throne, and He is waiting for you to Dream Big! If you’re not sure whether God has given you a big dream to walk out with your life purpose, read on.
God gives you your big life purpose dreams in a variety of ways. Abundant dreams. Big Dreams. The God of the Universe, who created all things beautiful, would like nothing better than to see you dream big. He wants to see you take your life dreams from ordinary to extraordinary. Don’t settle for anything less!
Here are three ways that God might choose to give you a sneak peek into your dreams or desires*:
o God will show you a need, and give you a burden for that need that inspires you to find a way to help.
o God will create a desire within you that is borne out of a talent, skill, or gifting you have—maybe a hobby, and it is even sweeter if you can create a business or a life’s work out of doing an activity you actually enjoy.
o Many of your dreams may be related to our own pain, or past experiences that have shaped who you are, and God will challenge you to look for ways to recycle your pain in an effort to help others going through a similar situation. Meeting people at their point of need.
Did you know that if God has planted a big dream in your heart that aligns with the truth and spirit of His living word, He has already specifically chosen and empowered you to carry it out, on to completion? Philipians 1:6 He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it. He has chosen and ordained you to fulfill His plans for you in order to impact His kingdom (See John 15:16).
But in order to effectively connect and serve in the body of Christ, you need to first connect and serve your creator by persevering and discovering the dream He gave you as an individual. He has divinely designed you for a specific purpose. It is up to you, through His power, to define and birth the dream. To carry it on, to completion.
There are two things I coach people to create in order to help them define their dreams:
1. Create a Purpose or Mission Statement for your life to answer the Why of what you do. Why do you believe so strongly that this will be life changing for others? Why does it ignite a passion inside every fiber of your being when you think or talk about it?
2. Create a Vision statement: the What you want to do. How will you carry out your vision? What activities will you have to engage in to accomplish this task? Who do you need to partner with to accomplish the vision?
You too, will have one central purpose, but perhaps many missions, or opportunities to accomplish that purpose. No matter where you are in Life, God’s not done with you yet! God inspires you for a reason. In addition to walking out your life purpose, your biggest goal in life is to become more Christ-like in your character and bring glory to God as you share your life purpose with others – a process that happens one day at a time.
When you dream big with God you have to be prepared to go through the fire, be prepared to defend your individual God-purposed dream when you come under attack, and learn to be in continual contact with the Lord, to be ‘in step’ with Him. That’s the how and when to achieve your purpose for God’s glory. You have to be in it for the long haul, even when the journey becomes long. Remember, we are living lives of eternity and it starts here on earth, not just when we get to heaven. Now go out into the world and Be Bold. Dream Big. Do it Now!
