4 Seconds to Change the World

I recently met a very accomplished and inspiring woman, Christine Clayburg, who was giving a presentation on telling your story to the media.  She shared that in today’s crazy fast-paced world of news media & social media you really only have 4 seconds to get the attention of your audience, and a minute and a half to entertain, inform, and inspire them.  In short, 4 seconds to change the world.

I believe the same is true for entrepreneurs.  You have 4 seconds to draw in your audience of clients and prospective clients, and a minute and a half to entertain, inform, and inspire them to want to seek you out, learn more about who you are and how you can serve them by solving a specific problem or need. You have 4 seconds to change the world with your message of hope and service to those you are called to connect with, and here’s how:

  • The most successful mindset and marketing strategies behind getting the message out about your business really boil down to telling your story in a way that entertains, informs, and inspires someone to take action.

  • It’s about sharing what is true about you, and being able to translate your message into a sound bite that not only honors those you are meant to serve, but also speaks to them in a language they can understand and relate to.  It’s about inspiring them to take action as you show them how you can uniquely and specifically lead them through a specific transformation or change.

  • You have a powerful story to tell.  We all do, and it’s about engaging your audience with your unique voice, purpose, and life experience.  No one is in competition for your purpose because it’s YOUR purpose.  So get over yourself, and tell us your story.

Being the best-kept secret in town serves no one, and keeps you from living out your purpose.  Turn up the urgency factor in your messaging and claim your 4 seconds that will change world.  Go ahead.  Entertain, inform, and inspire us.  I dare you!

Thanks for reminding us that when it comes to our unique purpose in life, there is no competition and for daring us to stand up and claim out spot. This is a timely post, Kristi.

WOW - 4 seconds is just an second longer than a blink of an eye, so let me think about this one. I'd say our site makes it Good to Be You, but I see Seagram's just used our name for their own marketing message. hmmmmm..

Love the conversation going on here, and this is a great place to try your messaging out! @Spa, it's good to see who else might be talking your talk! @patty, love your 4 second intro. VERY clear who your market is and how you can help them. I would love to see you tell us more about the 6 most important decisions...maybe in a blog article series or social media posts. Get the conversation and awareness going :)

Sometimes life has huge gaping holes in the road, not just bumps. When my son Adam died at the age of 23, I thought I would crawl in one of those holes and die too. All of the dreams we had of his future, just married, the not to be grand babies, never having the chance to see him get into the Captain\'s seat of a 747, never feel his hug or hear his voice again almost took me over the edge. But, I walked the grief valley and I kept my eye on the other side of the storm. Even when I was so angry with our Lord, He stood by me and held me and cried with me. He understood my pain. From all of this I have become a different person. I am stronger, more vocal when I like something...or don\'t! I appreciate my daughter, my husband and family, my Lord more than ever before. I appreciate the knowledge that this is not the end of the story. I will see Adam again. I live each day knowing that this could be the day that we are together again. My husband, Mark, and I started a ministry called LNF, (Love Never Fails) to honor our son and to help other bereaved parents starting this horrible journey. I have just completed writing a book, \"A Mother\'s Journal.\" Never would I have believed I could accomplish such things. I am honored to be able to tell the story of my son\'s incredible faith and life. I lived to tell the story! I am proud to say this!

Kristi Lynn, It was such a pleasure meeting you at WooHoo Weekend! Your message was heard loud and clear! I look forward to our business strategy session and also learning how I can tell my story in a way that impacts, engages and attracts. As an advocate for boomer women, my mission is to improve lives and help change the world. God bless you! Warmest regards, Giselle Shapiro
